Thank you for your willingness to call your Congressperson and Senators about health care reform.  Below are some suggestions on what you could say when you call. 

Congress is in the midst of crafting health reform so it is important for your representatives to know that you are watching the process closely and expect them to pass legislation this year that guarantees good benefits at a cost people can afford. 

When you call the hotline it will give some brief information, ask you for your zip code and then connect you to the first Congressional office; after you are done, stay on the line and you will be connected to the next office, and then the next office.

My name is NAME from CONGREGATION and PICO AFFILIATE in CITY.

We're calling today because we want Rep. / Sen. ____ to know that we strongly encourage him/her to do what they can to keep health reform moving forward.

We cannot afford to miss this historic opportunity to make health care work better for our families and the country. There's too much at stake for our families to let this opportunity slip by.

There are many important changes that I strongly support, such as stopping insurance companies from denying people coverage for pre-existing conditions and putting a cap on out-of-pocket health care expenses.

We also encourage Rep / Sen ____ to support a strong Affordability Standard in health reform legislation that helps families up to 400% of the Federal Poverty Level afford coverage.  Voters will overwhelmingly support health care reform if it helps them actually afford to buy quality insurance.
